The Seward neighborhood, named after William Seward, the U.S. Secretary of State under Abraham Lincoln, is quiet yet energetic neighborhood located just minutes southeast of downtown Minneapolis. This central Minneapolis neighborhood is by Hiawatha Avenue on the west, Interstate 94 to the north, West River Parkway and the Mississippi River to the east and 27th Street to the south.
The western and southwestern portions of the neighborhood are primarily commercial and industrial while the remainder of the neighborhood is mostly residential with single family homes and multi-family buildings scattered throughout. Franklin Avenue is the main street that traverse the neighborhood and features several dining, shopping and entertainment options such as the Seward Coop, Seward Café, Blue Nile Restaurant, Tracy’s Eatery, Pizza Luce, a few different casual dining restaurants, coffee shops and several other smaller service oriented businesses.
