Over the last 15 years, the neighborhood has gentrified rapidly with thousands of people moving into the North Loop. While some industrial tenants remain, particularly in the area southwest of 4th Street, many of the old factories and warehouses have been converted to commercial space or loft condominiums and apartments. Completed in 2010, Target Field is located in the southwestern portion of the neighborhood and is also connected to the Minneapolis Light Rail Transit system, which takes passengers south to the Mall of America and the Minneapolis-St Paul International Airport. Long term plans call for the construction of several thousand new multi-family residents near the stadium.
The West River Parkway, which follows the Mississippi River on the eastern edge of the neighborhood, is a scenic drive and also features miles of walking and bike paths, with several tennis courts located along the way.
