Hale is bound by Cedar Avenue to the east, Minnehaha Parkway to the north, Chicago Avenue to the west and 55th Street to the south and Chicago Avenue on the west.
The highlight of Hale is beautiful Lake Nokomis, located in the southeastern border of the neighborhood. Surrounded by Lake Nokomis Park, this lake was named "Best Place to Get Away without Leaving Town" by the City Pages in 2008. One of three sailing lakes within the city of Minneapolis, Lake Nokomis offers residents an abundance of recreational activities including swimming beaches, miles of walking and biking trails, playgrounds, concessions, fishing docks and several baseball, softball and football fields. All of these amenities are within walking distance for residents of the Hale neighborhood.
Minnehaha Parkway, which is the northern border of Hale, follows Minnehaha Creek for 12 miles from Lake Harriet to Minnehaha Park to the east and is popular amongst neighborhood residents for biking, walking and jogging. The parkway is part of the Grand Rounds National Scenic Byway that directly links the Minnehaha neighborhood to miles of paths, trails and parks throughout the city of Minneapolis, including Hiawatha Golf Course, a well-maintained municipal 18-hole course located just northeast of the neighborhood.
Primarily residential with single-family homes built in the 1920’s and 30’s, there are a couple of charming neighborhood retail areas that cater to local residents. Along the eastern edge of the neighborhood on Chicago Avenue, residents will find a children’s day care center, gas/convenience store, Chinese restaurant, Pizza/Deli, aquarium shop and a few other locally owned businesses that cater to residents. The quiet intersection of Bloomington Avenue and 52nd Street features a couple of charming neighborhood restaurants, dentist office and pharmacy/convenience store.
Many families live in Hale and there are two centrally located schools within the neighborhood. Hale Community School is part of the Minneapolis Public School system and serves 4th through 7th grades, and Our Lady of Peace is a private Roman Catholic school for grades K through 8.

Average median household income remained slightly higher at $67,695 per household as compared to an overall household income for Minneapolis of $37,974, making Hale more affluent than some of the surrounding neighborhoods.
