The Waite Park neighborhood, named after Edward Foote Waite, a early 20th century Hennepin County judge, is a quiet residential neighborhood tucked away in northeast Minneapolis along city limits. The neighborhood is bound by Central Avenue to the west, 37th Avenue to the north, Stinson Boulevard to the eats and St. Anthony Parkway to the south.

As the farthest northeast neighborhood within Minneapolis, the neighborhood is primarily characterized by single-family dwellings and an abundance of green space. Commercial areas are primarily located along Central Avenue to the north and south of the neighborhood.

South on Central Avenue, residents of Columbia Park will find a thriving area that features Indian grocery stores, Middle Eastern and Latin American restaurants and markets. Some notable landmarks along this stretch include Hold Land Deli, Crescent Moon Bakery, East Side Food Coop and several other entertainment options, nightclubs, casual restaurants, shops and service-oriented businesses that cater to local residents.

North of the neighborhood along Central Avenue into the adjacent Columbia Heights neighborhood, residents will find several additional retail, dining and commercial options such as a CVS pharmacy, Rainbow Foods grocery store, gas/convenience store, bank branches, ethnic restaurants, casual dining options and several other smaller businesses that cater to local residents

Waite Park features an abundance of green space throughout the neighborhood. The scenic and plush Saint Anthony Parkway runs along the southern border of the Waite Park neighborhood and is part of the Minneapolis Ground Rounds Scenic Byway, connecting Waite Park to miles of walking and biking paths, parkland and lakes throughout the city. At the southwest corner of the neighborhood and adjacent to St. Anthony Parkway, is Deming Heights Park. This 10-acre park features plenty of open green space, walking paths and also happens to be one of the highest points in Minneapolis, providing for dramatic views of the Minneapolis skyline.

Waite Park, conveniently located in the center of the neighborhood and adjacent to Waite School features several amenities such as: walking paths, baseball, softball and soccer fields, basketball courts, tennis courts, volleyball courts and a playground and wading pool.  A few blocks west, is the smaller Cavell Park, another neighborhood favorite.  This smaller park features several athletic fields, tennis courts, basketball courts and a large playground for neighborhood children.

Additionally, the neighborhood is across the street from Columbia Park. This 180-acre park features rolling terrain and plenty of wide open green spaces in addition to walking paths, picnic areas, athletic fields, playground, horseshoe pits and a regulation ruby field. Within the park is the 18-hole Columbia Golf Club. Established in 1919, the Columbia Golf Club is the second oldest municipal golf course in Minneapolis and features rolling terrain and mature tress scattered throughout.

There are few renters in the neighborhood, with owner occupied homes making up 89% percent of all households in Waite Park with the remaining 11% of households classified as renters. Average median household income is $46,317 per household.
