Kenny Real Estate - Minneapolis REALTORS®

A Southwest Minneapolis real estate agent who specializes in Kenny real estate is essential if you are considering buying or selling a Kenny house, Kenny condo or Kenny townhouse.  Agents Ranking has identified the best Southwest Minneapolis REALTOR®  to assist with your Kenny housing needs.

The Kenny neighborhood, named for an Australian nurse who was a pioneer in the field of physical therapy and the treatment of polio in the 20th century, is located in southwest Minneapolis situated in between the Armatage and Windom neighborhoods. The neighborhood is conveniently located with quick access to major thoroughfares and is bound by Highway 62/Crosstown to the south, Logan Avenue to the west, 54th Street to the north, and Lyndale Avenue to the east.

The neighborhood is primarily centered around Kenny Park, a popular park that includes numerous recreational amenities such as baseball, softball and soccer fields, two tennis courts and a small basketball court. There is also a popular playground and wading pool that are favorites for neighborhood children and their parents in the summer time and like several other parks within the Minneapolis park system, Kenny also offers ice rinks in the winter for skating and hockey. The park also features two neighborhood schools, Susan B. Anthony Middle School on the west side of the park and Kenny Community School on the east side.

Kenny also features Grass Lake on its southern edge. This 386-acre lake, originally part of Richfield Lake to the south but later separated during the construction of Highway 62/Crosstown, is classified as a Type 5 Wetland lake by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and is well known in the neighborhood as a great place for viewing numerous species of waterfowl and migratory birds.

Kenny is nearly all residential, with the only retail area located in the northeast corner of the neighborhood at the 54th Street and Lyndale Avenue intersection. This conveniently located neighborhood shopping district offers one stop shopping for neighborhood residents and features, a grocery store, drug store, coffee shop, car repair, gas station, movie theater and several other businesses that cater to local residents.

Additionally, the neighborhood features easy access to two major thoroughfares, Highway 62/Crosstown and 35W South, which provide residents quick access to Minneapolis-St Paul International airport and nearby major retail areas such as the Interstate 494 corridor to the south and Southdale to the west.

There are very few renters in the neighborhood, with 96% percent of all households considered to be owner-occupied. Average median household income remained substantially higher at $68,068 per household as compared to an overall household income for Minneapolis of $37,974, making the neighborhood more affluent as compared to some of its neighbors.

Because of the convenient location and the fact that houses in the Kenny neighborhood are typically larger than the surrounding neighborhoods, Kenny will always remain a desirable place to live.
