My house isn't selling. Wondering about making improvements.

I’ve had my house on the market for about 3 months with lots of activity, however I haven’t received any offers. Some of the feedback has been about my dated kitchen and the main floor bathroom which is also somewhat dated. I had a contractor give me a bid last week for the updates and it came in at about $45k. My house is currently on the market for $650k. I’m not sure how to decide if I should take the house off the market, make the improvements and then put it back on. Please advise.

Based on the information you provided it sounds like you might want to consider either lowering the price or making at least some updates. If your realtor thinks you can get the house sold by dropping the price $45k or $50k, that might be the easier route, however, if you do a great job on the remodel and the rest of your house is solid, you might be able to increase your asking price after the updates. This is really specific to the house/neighborhood/market conditions in your area.
